Antisocial behaviour review

The antisocial behaviour review was set up to re-examine the impact of the our approach to antisocial behaviour, drawing on evidence from local and national experts.

A range of initiatives to tackle antisocial behaviour more effectively in the future were recommended:

  • Ensuring a range of interventions are applied, with an 'antisocial behaviour ladder' at the heart of the our approach to antisocial behaviour. The review found that our interventions work best when a person causing antisocial behaviour is given a clear set of goals and expectations that must be met. This is alongside providing them with information on support programmes and the consequences of breaking the agreement.
  • Making sure members of the community have an opportunity to get involved in tackling antisocial behaviour
  • More help for young adults, including looking into extending the Youth Inclusion and Support Panels to the 18-25 year old group
  • Taking away privileges such as the right to a secure tenancy and to buy your council home from those who continually flout the rules.

The review was carried out in three stages:

  • analysing existing data on antisocial behaviour
  • a case study analysis of a cross section of individual cases including a persistent drug user, drug dealer, sex worker, and beggar
  • talking with a range of people including Safer Neighbourhood Panels, Camden residents, national experts, and dedicated sessions for young and old people

Antisocial behaviour action plan

An antisocial behaviour action plan has been developed to reflect the findings of the review:
